Terms of Service

Last updated April 2026

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using embly you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the product. These terms apply to all versions of embly, including beta releases.

Product description

embly is a local-first file organisation tool. It ingests files, generates embeddings on-device, and enables semantic search. Core functionality runs entirely on your machine without requiring an internet connection.

Beta disclaimer

embly is currently in early access. The software is provided as-is. Features may change, and data formats may not be stable across versions. We recommend keeping independent backups of important files during the beta period.

Permitted use

You may use embly for personal or commercial file management. You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, or resell embly without written permission. You may not use embly to process files you do not own or have rights to.

Intellectual property

embly and its associated branding, interface, and technology are the property of the embly team. No licence to our intellectual property is granted beyond what is necessary to use the product as described.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, embly is not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or indirect damages arising from your use of the product. Our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid for embly in the preceding 12 months.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms. You may stop using embly at any time. Sections covering intellectual property and limitation of liability survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the embly team is registered. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
